I understand the game Skip plays. He says a bunch of stupid shit and people give him publicity for it. That’s what I’m doing here, yes, and I don’t care. The “size advantage” Nate Diaz had over Conor McGregor at UFC 196 is probably the most overblown thing in mixed martial arts history, to the point where people think there was 40 lbs between the fighters. Not just Skip either, because any time I’ve given the actual explanation for why Conor lost (wasn’t prepared to fight at 170 lbs, punched himself out and got gassed, then caught) I’m told how tiny Conor was. Chael Sonnen claims that Nate stepped into the cage at 181 lbs, and if you believe that already high number (for a guy who fights at 155 lbs, just like McGregor), Diaz had 13 pounds on Conor, who weighed in at 168 lbs.
Onto the next part, where he says Nate Diaz had a five inch reach advantage…
Nope! Untrue. Sad.
Annnnnd finally, the big one. Let’s run the tape and reeeeaaaallllllllly appreciate the “sumo-style wrestling” that led Nate Diaz to a victory over the Notorious. Thank god Floyd Mayweather can’t utilize this on August 26th due to the confined rules of boxing.
Somehow, someway, Conor McGregor shooting a horrible takedown and Nate Diaz defending it has made him a sumo wrestler. Congratulations to the new UFC Super Heavyweight Champion of the world.
Skip Bayless, you’re a fuckin’ goof.
